It’s been a while. Let’s update.
So it’s been… a long time. I was actually just checking my SSL certificate to make sure it was renewing, then figured I’d stop by the blog and type some things. Since my last post, I’ve changed jobs, picked up a new video game, and bought some stuff.
Job lyfe
In September, I started a new job at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith as a Server Administrator. I super like it so far. Everyone’s friendly and smart, I have interesting problems to solve, and I’m back at UAFS! It’s nice being back here after graduation. I enjoy seeing my professors and all the staff that helped me while I was a student. Now it’s my turn to give back and help them.
Vidya games
I’ve been going pretty hard on World of Warcraft Classic the last few months. I started in April and leveled a couple characters to 70 on Grobbulus in TBC Classic. As soon as the Wrath Classic fresh servers opened, I started leveling a druid (surprise) on Skyfury with a friend. We’re currently about a week into the heroic dungeon grind and still having lots of fun. There are a few things that are different about the dungeons than what I remember, so it’s taking a little bit of adjusting. Wrath heroics are too easy and Blizzard really should have upped the difficulty a bit for Classic.
Steam Deck
I bought a Steam Deck last week just before they dropped the reservation system. Looks like Valve finally caught up to demand. The primary use case was for me to be able to play a little bit of WoW Classic on lunch breaks but I haven’t gotten a chance to try it out yet. ConsolePort and Questie should make the overall experience pretty enjoyable with the Steam Deck controls, so we’ll see once I finally get a chance to set it up and play a little bit.
So that’s it, I guess. Excited to see where my career goes after this. If I can continue to move forward at UAFS, that’d be great. I’d love to stay here and continue to help out. We’ll see when my next post is!
